NEWS FROM INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES

The MYCOTOXIN COMMITTEE of the AMERICAN PHYTOPATHOLOGICAL SOCIETY (APS) was formed in August 1998 at the annual APS meeting in order to better serve plant pathologists dealing with Mycotoxin issues. The APS Mycotoxin Committee resulted from the splitting of the Postharvest Pathology and Mycotoxicology Committee into two Committees. According to APS manual of operations, this Committee should be primarily concerned with in-depth presentation of current research and other investigations in the area of mycotoxins. This should be accomplished through the following: 1) Organization of symposia; 2) Discussion sessions; 3) Colloquia and other formal and informal programs during the annual meeting; 4) Organization of workshops, short courses, and field trips; 5) Preparation of publications of research methods and other technical information and activities related to the advance-ment of knowledge in the specific area of interest.
