The CCCF discussion paper on maximum limits for deoxynivalenol (DON) proposed revisiting the issue at the end of 2008,when pertinent information on DON’s occurrence in cereals and the influence of processing on DON levels is expected to be available. The paper also stressed the need for further toxicological studies. The CCCF agreed that deoxynivalenol should remain on the priority list, but decided to remove patulin, noting that a maximum level already exists.
